How to Choose a Gaming Console

Start with the games you want to play. A PlayStation 5 brings Sony's library to the TV, and the PS5 Pro has the most graphics power of the family, 2TB of storage and output up to 8K for select content. It comes without a disc drive, so it plays downloaded games unless you add the PS5 Disc Drive, sold separately. The PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition is a numbered edition of 12,300 units with a DualSense Edge controller in the bundle. The full line-up is on our PlayStation 5 page.

The PS5 Slim plays games in 4K at up to 120fps with 1TB of storage. The PS5 Slim Digital Edition has no disc drive and plays games downloaded from PlayStation Store, while the PS5 Slim Standard Edition adds a 4K Blu-ray drive for game discs and films. Every PS5 also plays most PS4 games. The PlayStation VR2 connects to a PS5 with a single USB-C cable and shows two OLED displays at 2000 x 2040 per eye, with eye tracking and up to 120Hz.

To play away from the TV, the Nintendo Switch 2 plays in 1080p in your hands and in up to 4K on the TV when docked, with magnetic Joy-Con controllers and GameChat for voice and video chat. The Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle includes the digital version of Mario Kart World. The Nintendo Switch OLED has a 7-inch OLED screen and 64GB of storage, and its dock adds a wired LAN port. Both are on our Nintendo page.

A handheld PC is another way to play on the move. The ASUS ROG ALLY RC71L runs Windows 11 on an AMD Ryzen Z1 with 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD and a 7-inch Full HD screen at 120Hz, so it plays the PC games in your own library. For a headset that needs no console, the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S are on our VR headset page, and a second controller or a charging stand is in gaming controllers and gaming accessories.

Gaming Consoles – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a gaming console?

The price depends on the console, the edition and the bundle, from the PS5 Slim Digital Edition to the PS5 Pro. The current price of each console is shown on its product page.

PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2: which should I buy?

Choose a PS5 if you play on a TV and want PlayStation games in 4K at up to 120fps; the PS5 Pro adds more graphics power and 2TB of storage. Choose the Nintendo Switch 2 if you want to play both on the TV and in your hands, with Nintendo games such as Mario Kart World.

What is the difference between the PS5 Pro and the PS5 Slim?

The PS5 Pro has more graphics power for sharper, smoother play in enhanced games, 2TB of storage and no built-in disc drive. The PS5 Slim plays the same PS5 games with 1TB of storage, with a disc drive in the Standard Edition or without one in the Digital Edition.

What is the difference between the PS5 Digital Edition and the Standard Edition?

The PS5 Slim Digital Edition has no disc drive and plays games bought and downloaded from PlayStation Store. The PS5 Slim Standard Edition has a 4K Blu-ray disc drive, so it plays game discs and Blu-ray films as well as downloaded games.

Does the PS5 play PS4 games?

Yes. The PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro play most PS4 games, from disc on a console with a disc drive or as downloads from PlayStation Store.

Is there a handheld gaming console?

Yes. The Nintendo Switch 2 and the Nintendo Switch OLED play in your hands and on the TV, and the ASUS ROG ALLY RC71L is a handheld PC that runs Windows 11 games on a 7-inch 120Hz screen.

Which console suits family play?

The Nintendo Switch 2 suits family play: GameShare lets several players join with one copy of a game, and Mario Kart World, included in the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle, supports races of up to 24 players.

Does the PS VR2 work without a PS5?

The PlayStation VR2 is designed for PS5 games and connects to the console with one USB-C cable. Playing on a PC needs the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, sold separately.

Are the consoles at Ennap.com original?

Yes. Every gaming console sold at Ennap.com is an original product from Sony, Nintendo or ASUS, and the warranty for each console is shown on its product page.
