Collection: Action cameras

Strap it to a helmet, a bike or a surfboard, and an action camera keeps filming where a phone would be at risk. The DJI Osmo Action 6 has a 1/1.1-inch sensor with a variable aperture from f/2.0 to f/4.0, opening up at sunset and closing down in bright sun, and it is waterproof to 20m without a case. It records up to 8K, has front and rear touchscreens for selfies and framing, 50GB of built-in storage and up to 240 minutes on one battery; the Adventure Combo adds extra batteries, a charging case and an extension rod. The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and 4K at 120fps, is also in the range.

A 360 camera records every direction at once, so you choose the angle after the ride. The Insta360 X6 films 8K 360 video on two 1/1.1-inch sensors with 10-bit colour and Dolby Vision, is waterproof to 20m with no case, and its 2600mAh battery runs about 140 minutes at 8K 30fps. The DJI Osmo 360 II records native 8K 360 video at 60fps with 1-inch-class imaging, f/1.9 lenses and 105GB of built-in storage, and its scratch-resistant lenses can be replaced at home. The Insta360 X5 records 8K 360 on two 1/1.28-inch sensors, waterproof to 15m, and a selfie stick held under it falls into the blind spot between the lenses and disappears from the footage.

For vlogs, travel and family videos, a pocket gimbal camera holds the shot steady on three mechanical axes. The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P has two lenses, a 20mm wide lens with a 1-inch sensor and a 60mm portrait lens at f/1.8, up to 17 stops of dynamic range and 4K at 240fps; its Vlog Combo adds a DJI Mic Mini 2 transmitter, a FrameTap remote, a fill light and a mini tripod. The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 has a 1-inch sensor, 4K at 240fps, 10-bit D-Log, a 2-inch rotating OLED screen and 107GB of built-in storage, and its Creator Combo adds a DJI Mic 3 transmitter. The Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo and the Insta360 Luna Ultra, with a Leica 1-inch main lens and a telephoto lens, complete the gimbal choice.

To film your own point of view without holding anything, the Insta360 GO Ultra weighs about 53g, clips magnetically to a cap or your chest, records 4K at 60fps on a 1/1.28-inch sensor and is waterproof to 10m, while its Action Pod with a flip-out touchscreen frames the shot and adds battery. The DJI Osmo Nano is a 52g magnetic camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 4K at 60fps and 10m waterproofing, and the GoPro HERO 13 Black records 5.3K at 60fps with HyperSmooth 6.0 and takes HB-Series lenses. A wireless microphone keeps your voice clear over wind, and our cameras page holds the rest of the range.
