What Are Mobile Phone Activation Fees in Egypt?
As of January 2025, customs and tax fees are applied to mobile phones imported from abroad. These are officially referred to as “Phone Activation Fees.”
These fees are paid once only, calculated at approximately 38.5% of the device’s value, and must be paid through the official "Telephony" app within 90 days of activating the device in Egypt.

Do All Devices on Your Website Include These Fees?

No. At Ennap.com, we provide two clear options depending on your needs:

- Local Warranty Devices: These devices come with fully paid fees, and you won’t need to pay anything extra after purchase.
- International Devices (without local warranty): These may not have their fees paid, but for some products, we offer a fees-paid version at a discounted price.

Will I Need to Pay Anything Later If I Choose a Fees-Paid Device?
No. If you choose the fees-paid version, the price displayed on the website includes all government fees. No additional payments or steps are required.

What’s the Difference Between a Fees-Paid and a Non-Paid Device?
- Fees-Paid: Ready for immediate use in Egypt. No further actions or payments required.
- Not Paid: Works for 90 days only in Egypt, after which you’ll need to pay the activation fee via the Telephony app to avoid service interruption.

How Do I Know If a Device Has the Fees Paid? The fee status is clearly mentioned on each product page—either in the product description or among the available purchase options.

What Is the Value of the Fees?
The fees vary depending on the device model. You can:

Contact us directly to check the fee for a specific device.
Or visit our Help Center to view the official fee values.

Who Sets the Fee Amount, and Can It Change?Fees are set by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority
Each model has a fixed amount, though the government may update values periodically.

How Do I Pay the Fees If I Choose a Device Without Paid Fees?
Fees are paid through the official “Telephony” app:

Download the app.
Enter the IMEI number of your device.
Pay using a bank card or another available payment method.

What Happens If I Don’t Pay the Fees After 90 Days?
Your device’s cellular services (calls, mobile data, SMS) will be suspended. It will only work again after the fee is paid via the app.

Can I Buy the Device Now and Pay the Fees Later?
Yes, you have a legal grace period of 90 days from the date of activation inside Egypt to pay the fee via the Telephony app.

Product Details

The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) cuff around your ear instead of sealing it, with up to 9 hours of battery, Immersive Audio and a wireless charging case.

Most earbuds ask you to choose between your music and everything around you. These do not. The cuffed open-ear design rests on the edge of your ear and leaves the ear canal completely open, so you hear traffic, a colleague, or your own front door while the music plays. It is the pair for people who never wear earbuds at work or on the street because blocking the world out is not an option.

OpenAudio Tech is what keeps that private. Sound is aimed into your ear rather than sprayed around you, so the person next to you hears very little of what you are listening to. Against the first generation the sound itself moves up: deeper bass and louder volume, TrueSpatial Tech for Immersive Audio that places sound around you rather than inside your head, and a new Cinema Mode tuned for films rather than music.

Battery is the other upgrade. Up to 9 hours on a charge with standard listening, and the case carries up to another 19.5 hours — about 28.5 hours in total before either needs a socket. A 10-minute stop in the closed case returns up to 2 hours, and the case itself now charges wirelessly, which the first generation could not do without a separate accessory.

The rest is built for wearing all day. An adjustable flex joint lets the cuff sit the way your ear wants it, each earbud weighs about 5.9 g, and IPX4 covers sweat and a sudden shower. Calls run through SpeechClarity Tech, and the finish is a sleeker metallic one in four colours: Black, White Smoke, and the limited-edition Cherry Chocolate and Olive Green.

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) Key Features:

Cuffed open-ear design: The earbud clips onto the edge of your ear and leaves the canal open, so you stay aware of traffic, announcements and people around you while the music plays.
OpenAudio Tech: Sound is directed into your ear rather than outward, which keeps what you are playing far more private than the open design suggests.
Deeper bass and louder volume than the first generation: The single biggest complaint about open-ear earbuds is thin sound, and this is the part Bose rebuilt.
Immersive Audio with TrueSpatial Tech: Places the sound around you instead of inside your head, and it stays anchored in place as you move.
New Cinema Mode: A separate tuning for films and video rather than music, for a wider, theatre-like soundstage.
Up to 9 hours per charge: Plus up to 19.5 hours from the case, for about 28.5 hours in total. With Immersive Audio or Auto Volume running it is up to 5 hours, and up to 4 hours with both.
Wireless charging case: New to this generation — drop the case on a wireless pad, or charge it over USB-C. A full charge takes about 1 hour.
10 minutes for 2 hours: A short stop in the closed case is enough for a commute or a gym session.
SpeechClarity Tech: Keeps your voice clear on calls, with streamlined voice prompts on the earbuds themselves.
Adjustable flex joint: The cuff bends to sit the way your ear wants it, and each earbud weighs about 5.9 g.
IPX4 water resistance: Rated for sweat and splashes, which covers workouts and getting caught in the rain.
Bluetooth 5.4 with about 9 metres of range: Bose quotes a 30-foot working range from the source device.
Four colours: Black and White Smoke, plus limited-edition Cherry Chocolate and Olive Green. Pick the colour you want from the product options before ordering.

Product FAQs

How is an open-ear earbud different from a normal one?
A normal earbud goes into the ear canal and seals it. This one cuffs the edge of your ear and leaves the canal completely open, so nothing is pushed inside and nothing is blocked out. You hear the road, the office and the doorbell exactly as you would without it, with your music playing on top. If you have never been able to wear sealed earbuds comfortably for long, this is the design that solves it.

Can the people around me hear what I am playing?
Far less than you would expect from an open design. OpenAudio Tech aims the sound into your ear rather than out into the room. At normal listening levels someone sitting next to you picks up very little. At high volume in a silent room they will hear something, the same as with any open-ear product.

Does it cancel noise?
No, and that is the point. There is no active noise cancellation because the ear canal is deliberately left open. If you want silence on a plane or in an open office, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are the sealed pair with ANC. This one is for staying aware of what is around you.

What is new compared with the first generation Ultra Open Earbuds?
Bose lists five changes: deeper bass and louder volume, TrueSpatial Tech for Immersive Audio, a new Cinema Mode tuned for films, a battery boost to up to 9 hours, and a case that now charges wirelessly without a separate accessory. Calls also move to SpeechClarity Tech, and the finish is a sleeker metallic one with a more robust case.

How long does the battery last?
Up to 9 hours on a charge with standard listening, and the case holds up to 19.5 hours more, so about 28.5 hours before anything needs a socket. Running Immersive Audio or Auto Volume brings the earbuds to up to 5 hours, and up to 4 hours with both on. A full charge takes about an hour, and 10 minutes in the closed case returns up to 2 hours.

What comes in the box?
Bose lists the two earbuds, the charging case, a quick start guide and a safety sheet. A charging cable is not listed, so plan on using a USB-C cable you already own or charging the case on a wireless pad.

Are they suitable for running and the gym?
Yes. IPX4 covers sweat and splashes, each earbud weighs about 5.9 g, and the adjustable flex joint keeps the cuff steady. Staying aware of traffic is exactly why many runners choose an open design. They are not rated for swimming or for being submerged.

How is this different from the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds?
They solve opposite problems. The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds seal the ear canal and use active noise cancellation to shut the world out. The Ultra Open Earbuds leave the canal open and let the world in. Sound isolation and bass depth go to the QuietComfort; comfort over long hours and awareness of your surroundings go to the Ultra Open.

Do they work with iPhone and Android?
Yes. They connect over Bluetooth 5.4 to any phone, tablet or computer, with a working range of about 9 metres. The Bose app is available on both iOS and Android for settings and controls.

Will they stay on my ear?
The cuff wraps the outer edge of the ear and the adjustable flex joint lets you set how tightly it sits, so it holds without pressing into the canal. Because nothing is wedged inside the ear, there is no fit test and no ear tips to swap.

What is the difference between the limited-edition colours and the standard ones?
Colour only. Cherry Chocolate and Olive Green are limited editions of the same earbuds, with identical sound, battery and features to Black and White Smoke. Choose the colour you want from the product options before completing the order.
