HP OMEN 16-am0073dx Gaming Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB, 16-inch FHD+ 144Hz, Win11

HP OMEN 16-am0073dx is a 16-inch gaming laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, an RTX 5060 8GB, 16GB DDR5, a 1TB SSD and a 1920 x 1200 144Hz screen on Windows 11 Home.

At the heart of the HP OMEN 16-am0073dx is the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, a 16-core, 16-thread processor that reaches up to 5.1GHz with Intel Turbo Boost and carries 24MB of L3 cache. It also includes an Intel AI Boost NPU rated at 13 TOPS for on-device AI features and Intel Arc graphics for light everyday tasks, and a dedicated Copilot key opens Microsoft Copilot in Windows 11 Home with one press.

Games run on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with 8GB of dedicated GDDR7, built on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. It supports DLSS 4, which uses AI to raise frame rates while keeping the image sharp, and NVIDIA Reflex 2 for lower input latency in competitive titles. HP Graphics Switch is set to Hybrid by default, so the laptop can use the integrated graphics for light work and the RTX 5060 when you play.

The 16-inch IPS display has a 1920 x 1200 resolution in a 16:10 shape, which HP markets as 2K, so you see more of a web page or a document than on a 1920 x 1080 panel. It refreshes at up to 144Hz with variable refresh rate support for smooth, tear-free motion, and DC dimming keeps it flicker-free. The anti-glare surface delivers 300 nits and covers 62.5% of sRGB inside a micro-edge frame with an 87.4% screen-to-body ratio. It is tuned for gaming and everyday use rather than colour-critical editing.

Heat is handled by OMEN Tempest Cooling, with high-efficiency fans designed to hold performance through long sessions while keeping noise and keyboard temperature down. In OMEN Gaming Hub, Unleashed Mode lets you raise power limits manually without entering the BIOS, and OMEN AI recommends optimised settings with a single click to raise FPS in supported games.

Memory is 16GB of DDR5-5600 in a single module, and the laptop has two accessible SODIMM slots that take up to 32GB in dual channel, so adding a second module is a simple upgrade. Storage is a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD, with room for a large game library and fast load times.

The full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad has 4-zone RGB backlighting with highlighted WASD keys and 26-key rollover anti-ghosting, so fast combinations register correctly. Beside it sits the HP Imagepad with multi-touch gestures, including four-finger gestures.

For calls and streaming, the HP True Vision 1080p FHD camera with temporal noise reduction and dual-array microphones sits behind a physical privacy shutter. Sound comes from dual speakers tuned by HyperX with DTS:X Ultra spatial audio. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E (2x2) with Bluetooth 5.3, and a gigabit Ethernet port keeps latency steady when you play online.

Ports cover a full gaming setup: a USB Type-C port at 10Gbps with DisplayPort 1.4, USB Power Delivery and HP Sleep and Charge, one USB Type-A at 10Gbps, two USB Type-A at 5Gbps, HDMI 2.1, RJ-45 Ethernet, a headphone and microphone combo jack and the AC Smart pin for the charger.

A 70Wh 4-cell battery is rated by HP at up to 7 hours 15 minutes of video playback, and HP Fast Charge brings it to 50% in about 30 minutes. The 230W Smart AC adapter powers the CPU and GPU at full performance when you play. The Shadow Black chassis measures about 357 x 269 x 24 to 25 mm and weighs about 2.43 kg, and it is ENERGY STAR certified, with ocean-bound plastic in the speaker enclosures and bezel.
