Samsung 27-inch Odyssey G5 LS27CG552EMXUE QHD 165Hz Curved Gaming Monitor

Samsung Odyssey G5 LS27CG552EMXUE is a 27-inch 1000R curved gaming monitor with a QHD 2560 x 1440 VA panel, 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response, AMD FreeSync and HDR10.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 G55C puts 2560 x 1440 (QHD) pixels on a 27-inch 16:9 screen, which Samsung puts at about 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD. Text, maps and in-game menus look sharper, distant detail is easier to pick out, and the desktop has room for two windows side by side when you switch from gaming to work.

The screen curves at 1000R, so the edges bend toward you and the picture fills more of your peripheral vision. The whole 27-inch surface stays within an easy glance at a normal desk distance, which suits racing, flight and open-world games as well as long browsing sessions.

A 165Hz refresh rate draws up to 165 frames every second, so fast camera turns and moving targets stay smooth, and the 1ms (MPRT) response time keeps motion blur low. Samsung measures the 1ms figure with the monitor in its Extreme response mode. Low Input Lag Mode cuts the delay between your mouse or controller and what you see on screen.

AMD FreeSync matches the monitor's refresh rate to the frame rate of a compatible graphics card, which removes screen tearing and reduces stutter when the frame rate rises and falls. Use the DisplayPort 1.2 input for the full 165Hz at QHD; the HDMI 2.0 input runs QHD at up to 144Hz, according to Samsung's user manual.

The VA panel has a 2500:1 static contrast ratio, 300 nits of typical brightness, 16.7 million colours and 178-degree viewing angles. HDR10 support lets the monitor play HDR games and video, and Black Equalizer brightens dark areas of the picture so details in shadows are easier to see.

For long sessions, Eye Saver Mode reduces blue light and Flicker Free technology cuts the screen flicker that tires the eyes. Off Timer Plus can switch the monitor off after a set time, and the display is certified for Windows 11.

Samsung's game tools sit in the on-screen menu: Virtual AIM Point places a crosshair at the centre of the screen, Super Arena Gaming UX gathers the game settings in one gaming-focused interface, and Auto Source Switch+ changes to a newly connected source on its own. Picture modes include presets for RPG, RTS, FPS and sports games alongside Custom.

The slim stand tilts from -2 to 18 degrees, and a 75 x 75 mm VESA mount lets you move the screen to a monitor arm or wall bracket when you need height or position adjustment. At the back are one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 2.0 and a headphone output, with HDCP 2.2 on both inputs. Power comes from an external adapter, and maximum consumption is 40W.
