SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is a pocket-sized USB-C drive with read speeds up to 1050 MB per second, IP65 water and dust resistance, 3-meter drop protection and hardware encryption.
The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD puts NVMe solid state performance into a drive of just 100.8 x 52.55 x 9.6 mm, small enough for a pocket, a camera bag or a laptop sleeve. It reads at up to 1050 MB per second and writes at up to 1000 MB per second, so offloading a day of photos, backing up a project folder or moving large video files takes moments instead of a long wait.
The drive connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2 through a reversible USB-C port. A USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter come in the box, so the same drive works with a USB-C laptop and with a computer that only has USB-A ports. Actual speed depends on the port and the device it is connected to.
It is built to travel. The drive is rated IP65 for water and dust resistance: SanDisk tests it against a flow of water for 3 minutes, and limited dust contact does not affect operation. Rain, splashes and a dusty location are not a problem, but make sure the drive is clean and dry before you plug it in.
Accidents happen on the road, so the drive offers drop protection up to 3 meters. A silicone shell gives a secure grip and protects the exterior, and the solid state storage inside has no moving parts.
A built-in carabiner loop lets you clip the drive to a belt loop or a backpack strap, so it stays with you on a shoot, on a trip or between the office and home.
Private files stay private with password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption. You set the password with SanDisk software on a Windows or Mac computer, and Mac needs a software download first. Password protection and hardware encryption do not work on smartphones, including Android devices.
It works with USB Type-C phones, tablets and laptops, and SanDisk tested it with the iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, so you can move photos and videos off your phone and free up space. On Android, the SANDISK App from Google Play lets you access and back up your phone's files in one place, and it can move files to the SSD automatically.
Supported systems are Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 or later, iOS 13 or later and Android 11 or later. Keep a second copy of the files that matter on the drive, so a power failure, a virus attack or a lost laptop does not mean losing your work.
Choose 1TB, 2TB or 4TB from the product options. All three capacities have the same read and write speeds. SanDisk counts 1TB as one trillion bytes, and part of the capacity is used for formatting, so the space your computer shows is slightly lower than the number on the box.
