Product Details

The Xiaomi Redmi Buds 8 pair an 11mm dynamic driver with up to 50dB of active noise cancellation and 44 hours of total battery, in a 5g semi-in-ear shell rated IP54.

Noise cancellation is where cheaper earbuds usually give up, and this is the part Xiaomi pushed hardest. The 50dB figure is the depth, but the number that matters day to day is the range: cancellation stays effective up to 4kHz, which reaches past engine rumble and air conditioning into the band where voices and traffic sit. That is the difference between muffling a bus and actually quietening a carriage full of people.

Sound comes from a single 11mm dynamic driver per side, which is large for a bud this light. With the latest firmware and an LHDC-compatible phone it runs Hi-Res Audio Wireless, so a high-bitrate file arrives without being compressed down to Bluetooth’s usual ceiling. On any other phone it falls back to AAC or SBC and simply works.

Battery is the other practical win: 11 hours from the buds alone with noise cancellation off and 44 hours with the case, or 6.5 and 28 hours with it on. A 10 minute charge puts back about 4 hours of listening, which covers the case where you find them flat on the way out of the door.

For calls there are three microphones with AI noise reduction and wind resistance up to 12m/s, so your voice still carries when you are walking outside. Bluetooth 5.4 handles dual-device connection, meaning the buds stay paired to a laptop and a phone at once and move to whichever one starts playing. In the app there are 5 EQ modes, custom EQ and a Sound ID hearing test that tunes the output to your own ears.
