The Xiaomi REDMI Headphones Neo are over-ear wireless headphones with adaptive noise cancelling up to 42dB, a 40mm titanium-plated driver and around 72 hours of battery life on a charge.

At the centre of the Xiaomi REDMI Headphones Neo is a 40mm titanium-plated dynamic driver with a composite titanium diaphragm and an expanded diaphragm area, which is what moves enough air for bass that stays controlled rather than smeared. Around it sits adaptive noise cancelling of up to 42dB with three noise cancelling levels, so the amount of isolation follows what is happening around you instead of staying fixed.

Calls are handled by three microphones working with AI-powered algorithms, plus wind noise cancellation rated for wind up to 5 metres per second - the situation that usually ends a call outdoors.

Connection is Bluetooth 5.4 with Low Energy, HFP, A2DP and AVRCP over a 10 metre range, and dual-device connection keeps a laptop and a phone paired at the same time so a call can interrupt what you are watching without re-pairing. On Android, Google Fast Pair sets the headphones up with one tap.

Battery is 600mAh, rated at around 72 hours on a single charge with noise cancelling switched off, and a 10 minute charge gives up to 5 hours of playback. Charging is over USB Type-C at 5V 600mA.

The same USB-C port also carries audio. In USB audio mode the frequency response reaches 20Hz to 40kHz against 20Hz to 20kHz over Bluetooth, and the Hi-Res Audio certification applies to wired playback only - so the cable is what unlocks it. The cable is not supplied in the box, which is worth planning for if Hi-Res is the reason you are buying.

Wearing comfort comes from protein leather ear cushions over low-pressure breathable foam on an adjustable headband, in a body that weighs 263g and measures 202 x 183 x 47 mm with an impedance of 32 ohm. The Xiaomi Earbuds app handles the equaliser, the noise cancelling level and firmware updates.
