The Xiaomi Smart Tower Fan 2 is a slim, floor-standing tower fan for bedrooms and living rooms. It combines a 0.6 m tall air outlet, 150° wide-angle oscillation, three airflow modes and Wi-Fi control through the Xiaomi Home app, while its base takes up about the floor space of an A4 sheet of paper.

The tall outlet spreads air along the height of the tower, so the breeze reaches you whether you sit on the sofa or on the floor. Oscillation covers up to 150°, and you can set a narrower sweep angle in the app to match the room. Xiaomi rates the ventilation range at 10 m, with an air speed of at least 0.3 m per second at that distance at the highest speed level in direct mode.

Inside, a 10-stage turbine with 35 blades per stage, 350 blades in total, breaks up the airflow into a softer, more even breeze than the direct gust of a regular fan. Maximum wind speed reaches 5.6 m per second, about 30% higher than the first Xiaomi Smart Tower Fan, and an independent lab measured a maximum airflow of 494 cubic metres per hour.

Choose between three modes on the fan or in the app. Direct mode gives steady airflow for quick cooling, with 4 speed levels on the fan and 100 speed levels in the app. Natural mode changes the speed irregularly to imitate an outdoor breeze, with four patterns (lakeside, campsite, orchard and terraced field), and the app lets you adjust the breeze cycle and intensity. Sleep mode runs gently and turns the indicator lights off.

A DC inverter motor keeps speed changes smooth and the noise low. At level 1 in direct mode the fan runs at just 28.7dB(A), quiet enough for a bedroom at night, and at its highest level it was measured at 59.7dB(A).

The same motor keeps running costs low. The fan is rated at 24W, and at level 1 in direct mode without oscillation it draws as little as 1.5W. Running it that way 8 hours a day for a 90-day summer uses about 1 kWh in total.

Through the Xiaomi Home app on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, you can turn the fan on or off from anywhere, switch modes, set the speed and oscillation angle, schedule a turn-off time, and switch the child lock, indicator lights and beep on or off. Pair it with a thermo-hygrometer and a Bluetooth Mesh gateway device, sold separately, to create scenes that adjust the fan to room temperature. On the fan itself, top-mounted buttons control power, mode, speed, oscillation and a 1 to 4 hour timer, and the fan remembers your last mode and speed.

Safety was designed for homes with children. The 6.9 mm fine air outlets passed the small finger probe test of EN 60335-1, the ABS shell keeps the fan stable, the power adapter lowers the output to a safe 12V, and the child lock disables the buttons. Xiaomi advises that minors use the fan only under adult supervision and that children under 3 stay away from it.

Cleaning takes four steps with the included hex key: remove the rear grille, lift out the impeller, wash both with water or a mild neutral detergent, then dry them and put them back. Keeping the impeller clean keeps the airflow fresh through the summer.

Maximum wind speed rises from 4.3 to 5.6 m per second, about 30% stronger. The Xiaomi Smart Tower Fan 2 is also more compact and lighter, at 290 x 290 x 1014 mm and 3.3 kg compared with 310 x 310 x 1111 mm and 4.3 kg, and its rated power is 24W compared with 22W.

Does the fan remember my settings?
Yes. When you switch the fan off with its button and back on, it returns to the last mode, speed and oscillation setting you used, so you do not need to set it up again each time.

Can I use the fan without the app?
Yes. The top-mounted buttons turn the fan on and off and control the mode, 4 speed levels, oscillation and a 1 to 4 hour timer. The Xiaomi Home app adds 100 speed levels, the oscillation angle setting, a custom timer and control from anywhere.

Does it work with 5GHz Wi-Fi?
No. The fan connects only to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi with WPA or WPA2 security. Most dual-band routers offer a 2.4GHz network you can use.
