How to Build a Complete Computer Setup

A complete computer setup starts with the machine, so decide first where you will use it. If it stays on one desk, a desktop computer such as the Apple Mac mini M6 or the DELL Pro Tower lets you choose your own screen, keyboard and mouse. If it travels to university or the office, a laptop carries everything in one bag: the ASUS TUF F16 pairs an RTX 5070 with a 16-inch 165Hz screen for games, the Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 is built for work, and the Dell Alienware 16 Aurora comes with graphics up to an RTX 5070 and a 16-inch WQXGA screen. Laptops and desktops are compared side by side on our laptops and computers page.

A desktop needs a screen to start, and a laptop is kinder to your neck at a desk with a larger one. For long office days, the 27-inch Dell SE2725HM runs at 100Hz and carries TÜV Rheinland eye comfort certification. For fast games, the Lenovo Legion 27-10 reaches 240Hz. With a laptop, the 34-inch MSI Modern MD342CQP takes the picture and charges a compatible laptop at up to 98W over one USB-C cable. The full range is on our computer monitors page.

Then come the things you touch all day. The Xiaomi Wireless Mouse 3 keeps the desk free of cables with quiet clicks and works with more than one device, the Logitech G102 is a wired gaming mouse with LIGHTSYNC lighting, and the Apple Magic Mouse (USB-C) pairs with a Mac. Keyboards are on our computer keyboards page. The Aulumu G07 sticks once to the bottom of a laptop and pops up with a light press, lifting it 2 inches at an 18-degree tilt for easier typing and better airflow, and the pair holds up to 5kg.

Storage is the simplest upgrade. The MSI SPATIUM M450 is a 500GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD that reads at up to 3,000 megabytes per second, so a computer with a free M.2 slot starts up and loads games far faster than from a hard drive. For backups you carry, the KIOXIA EXCERIA Plus G2 portable SSD weighs 42g, reads at up to 1,050 megabytes per second and comes with both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. The HIKSEMI T300S SHIELD has an aluminium body and reads at up to 560 megabytes per second, and the SanDisk Portable Drive reads at up to 600 megabytes per second in a 31.7g body.

Computers – Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a computer?

The price depends on the processor, the graphics card, the memory and the storage, from the DELL Pro Tower and the Lenovo LOQ with an RTX 3050 to gaming laptops with an RTX 5090. The current price of each computer is shown on its product page.

Is there a complete computer with a screen, keyboard and mouse?

A laptop is complete on its own, with the screen, keyboard and touchpad built in. A desktop such as the Apple Mac mini M6 is the computer only, so you build the set from parts: a screen from our computer monitors page, a keyboard from our computer keyboards page and a mouse from our mice page.

Which computer do I need for home, study and office work?

A laptop or desktop with a current Intel Core or AMD Ryzen processor, 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD covers documents, browsing, video calls and online classes. The Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 and the Dell Pro 16 both have 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 512GB SSD.

What do I need in a gaming computer?

Start with the graphics card, then the screen's refresh rate. The ASUS TUF F16 pairs an RTX 5070 with a 165Hz screen, the Lenovo Legion 5 has an RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 with a 165Hz screen, and the Lenovo LOQ starts with an RTX 3050 at 144Hz. For a desk setup, a monitor such as the Lenovo Legion 27-10 at 240Hz keeps up with fast games.

Should I choose a Mac or a Windows computer?

Choose a Mac if you use an iPhone or an iPad and want macOS: the Apple Mac mini and the MacBook models run it. Choose Lenovo, ASUS, Dell, HP or MSI for Windows. A product name with Win11 means Windows 11 is installed, and DOS means you install the operating system yourself.

Can I add storage to my computer?

Yes. A laptop or desktop with a free M.2 2280 slot takes an internal NVMe SSD such as the MSI SPATIUM M450, and any computer with a USB port works with a portable SSD such as the KIOXIA EXCERIA Plus G2 or the HIKSEMI T300S SHIELD.

What is the difference between an internal SSD and a portable SSD?

An internal SSD such as the MSI SPATIUM M450 is fitted inside the computer and holds the system, programs and games, reading at up to 3,000 megabytes per second. A portable SSD such as the KIOXIA EXCERIA Plus G2 plugs into USB and carries backups and video between computers, reading at up to 1,050 megabytes per second.

Can I connect a laptop to a monitor with one cable?

Yes, over USB-C. The MSI Modern MD342CQP takes the picture through one USB-C cable and charges a compatible laptop at up to 98W at the same time. The laptop's USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode.

How do I make a laptop more comfortable at a desk?

Raise it and add a mouse. The Aulumu G07 lifts a laptop 2 inches at an 18-degree tilt, and a wireless mouse such as the Xiaomi Wireless Mouse 3 replaces the touchpad for long sessions.

Are the computers at Ennap.com original?

Yes. Every computer, monitor and accessory sold at Ennap.com is an original product from its brand, and the warranty for each model is shown on its product page.
