Does it come with Windows?
No. This desktop is supplied without an operating system, so you install Windows or Linux yourself and buy a Windows licence separately if you want one. Worth arranging before it arrives, because it will not boot to a desktop out of the box.

Is 8GB of memory enough?
For office work, a browser and email it is workable, but this is the first upgrade to plan. The 8GB sits in one of two slots, so adding a matching module takes it to 16GB and switches the memory into dual channel at the same time - and the built-in graphics use system memory, so they get faster too. The board accepts up to 64GB.

Can it run games or heavy design work?
Not as it comes. Display output is from Intel UHD Graphics 770 inside the processor, which is built for office work, video playback and two monitors rather than 3D. What the tower does give you is a full-height PCIe x16 slot so a graphics card can be added later. Before you buy one, check the wattage of the power supply fitted to your unit - Dell builds this model with either a 180W or a 360W supply, and that decides which cards it can take.

How much storage can I add?
A fair amount. The M.2 slot takes a 2230 or 2280 NVMe drive of up to 1TB, and there are two SATA 3.0 bays - one for a 3.5-inch hard drive of up to 2TB and a second for either another 3.5-inch drive or a slim optical drive. The 512GB SSD stays as the system drive while you add to it.

Does it have Wi-Fi?
It has a gigabit Ethernet port built in for a wired connection, which is what most offices use with a tower. The Wi-Fi card is an optional module on this chassis rather than a standard fitting, so check with us before ordering if you need wireless - there is an M.2 2230 slot for one inside, and a USB Wi-Fi adapter also works.

How many monitors can I connect?
Two at once from the built-in graphics, through DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1. Adding a graphics card to the PCIe x16 slot raises that further.

What ports does it have?
Eight USB in total: three USB-A at 5Gbps, one USB-C at 5Gbps, two USB 2.0 and two more USB 2.0 with SmartPower on, which keep supplying power for charging while the tower is off. Alongside them are gigabit Ethernet, a global headset jack, DisplayPort and HDMI.

Is it easy to open and service?
Yes - that is the point of a tower. It is a full-size chassis at 324.30 x 154 x 293 mm with a removable side panel, so memory, drives and expansion cards are reachable without special tools, and parts stay available for years rather than being soldered down.

What is the Q670 or Q870 chipset for?
The chipset is the board's controller, and it sets what the machine supports around the processor. This one runs the Intel Q670, which gives it a PCIe bus up to Gen3 and DDR5 memory up to 5600 MT/s. It is the reason two towers with similar processors can still behave differently.

How does it compare with the other DELL Pro Tower versions you carry?
It shares a price with the Core Ultra 5 235 version, and the two split the difference: this one has 20 threads against 14, so it handles more tasks at once, while the Ultra 5 has the newer Intel Q870 platform with DDR5 to 6400 MT/s and PCIe up to Gen4. Pick this one for threads, the Ultra 5 for the newer platform. Above both sit the Core i7-14700 and Core Ultra 7 265 versions.

Can I lock it down in a shared office?
Yes. There is a padlock ring on the chassis so the side panel cannot be opened, and a Kensington lock slot for tethering the tower to a desk.
