Product Details

The DELL Pro Tower pairs an Intel Core i7-14700 vPro with 8GB of DDR5, a 512GB NVMe SSD and Intel graphics in a full-size business tower, covered by a three-year warranty.

This is the DELL Pro Tower QCT1250, the business desktop Dell builds to sit under a desk for years rather than to be replaced. Its Intel Core i7-14700 vPro carries 20 cores - 8 performance cores and 12 efficient cores - for 28 threads, reaching 5.40GHz with 33MB of cache on the Intel Q670 chipset. Display output comes from Intel UHD Graphics 770 built into the processor, which is what keeps the tower quiet and its power draw low.

Memory is 8GB of DDR5 in one of two UDIMM slots, and the board runs memory at up to 5600 MT/s and accepts up to 64GB. The second slot is empty, so adding a matching module both doubles the capacity and moves the memory into dual channel - which integrated graphics benefit from directly, because they borrow system memory instead of carrying their own.

Storage is a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD, and the tower has room to grow: the M.2 slot takes a 2230 or 2280 drive of up to 1TB, and there are two SATA 3.0 bays - one for a 3.5-inch hard drive of up to 2TB, and a second that takes either another 3.5-inch drive or a slim optical drive. It ships without an operating system, so Windows or Linux is installed separately.

Expansion is the reason to buy a tower rather than a small-form-factor machine. Inside there is one full-height PCIe x16 slot and two full-height PCIe x1 slots, on a PCIe bus running up to Gen3, plus a separate M.2 2230 slot for a wireless card. Ports are three USB-A at 5Gbps, one USB-C at 5Gbps, two USB 2.0 and two more USB 2.0 with SmartPower on, a gigabit Ethernet jack, a global headset jack, DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1 for two monitors at once, and a power connector. Physical security is covered by a padlock ring and a Kensington lock slot. The chassis measures 324.30 x 154 x 293 mm and weighs from 4.34kg, and the desktop carries a three-year warranty.

DELL Pro Tower Key Features:

  • Intel Core i7-14700 vPro with 20 cores and 28 threads - 8 performance cores and 12 efficient cores reaching 5.40GHz with 33MB of cache, a full desktop processor rather than a laptop chip in a box.
  • Second memory slot free, up to 64GB - the 8GB sits in one of two slots, so adding a module raises the total and switches the memory into dual channel at the same time.
  • DDR5 at up to 5600 MT/s on the Intel Q670 chipset - the memory speed the board supports with this processor.
  • 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD with two SATA bays free - add a 3.5-inch hard drive of up to 2TB for archives without touching the system drive.
  • Full-height PCIe x16 slot plus two PCIe x1 slots - room for a graphics card, a capture card or a network card, on a PCIe bus up to Gen3.
  • DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1 - two monitors from the built-in graphics, with no card needed.
  • Eight USB ports and gigabit Ethernet - three USB-A at 5Gbps, one USB-C at 5Gbps and four USB 2.0, two of them with SmartPower so they charge while the tower is off.
  • Padlock ring and Kensington lock slot - the chassis can be locked shut and tethered to a desk, which matters in a shared office.
  • Serviceable full-size chassis - 324.30 x 154 x 293 mm with a tool-free side panel, so memory, storage and cards are reachable without a workshop.
  • Three-year warranty - covered from purchase.
